One of the hardest tasks involved in counselling is making the first step to reach out for help, but when you do you will feel empowered by encouraging your own personal development.
Counselling works most effectively when a sense of rapport is met in the room when a relationship of trust, honesty and support is met. Counselling can help you come to terms with past and present experiences. At times counselling can be challenging but its benefits can be life changing.
There are a multitude of positive factors that can lead from counselling.
The aim of counselling is to provide a safe, secure and non-judgemental environment in which any concerns or issues past or present can be discussed. Counselling is not about giving advice or telling you what to do. It is about helping you come to a deeper understanding of yourself and your issues, whilst providing the tools to enable you to make informed choices and decisions that are right for you as an individual. It is about offering support and understanding to enable you to cope with life changes or simply come to terms with life's events. In helping you to do this I hope to build an emphatic and therapeutic relationship in which trust is built.
I have been trained in Gestalt therapy which is considered particularly valuable for helping to treat a wide range of issues, especially as it can be applied as a long-term therapy or as a brief and focused approach. It has been effective for managing tension, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, depression and psychological problems that can prevent living life to the full. Overall people who participate in Gestalt therapy tend to feel more confident, calm and at peace with themselves.
